Enjoying yourself doesn't come without its fair share of flak and 17-year-old Joe McCain (Martin Compston) is about to experience some cuban-heeled debris all of his own.

Love, risk, accpetance, violence - Soul Boy has all the tacked-on traits of the teenage rite of passage flick but swerves soppy to remain sharp, well written and eminently watchable.
