'I'm a bitch from hell,' says Marem Hernandez. Before you allow your filthy mind to conjure up some sordid dominatrix image, we should point out that Marem is talking about her character in the new series of Sky's football drama Dream Team. 'Let me put it this way: do you remember Joan Collins in Dynasty? Well, that's my character. She's a very strong female, surrounded by men. It's great fun to do.'
It's also great fun to watch. After the odd sultry appearance last series, Marem returns to rule the roost as Chief Executive of the fictional footy club. You might also recognise her from her Gossard bra campaign or as the girl in the Ford Focus ad who rejects her boyfriend's marriage proposal by scorching 'No' into the dust at the end of the runway as he jets off for cooler climes.
Marriage proposals may be coming in thick and fast, as Marem returns to our screens as a bit of a temptress. 'I'm not exactly flirting, but I'm not afraid to use my femininity to get what I want,' she says. 'I show a bit of leg or cleavage - I use my sex appeal.' Which consists of what, exactly? 'Well, I have great shoes in the show. Shoes are very important - if a woman wears sexy high heels, it's a statement. I'll come on set in flip-flops, but once the high heels are on I'm in character. The others say that the only thing missing is a whip.'
Footwear aside, what else makes a woman sexy? 'The sexiest look comes from the eyes, and from being confident. If I'm wearing really nice underwear, I feel sexy - even if nobody gets to see it.' Marem is not shy when it comes to flaunting her flesh. 'I've got no problem being sexy. I have no issues with my body. It's a strong instrument of expression and if it can bring something to the role, I'll do it. The Maxim shoot was definitely sexy without being tacky.'
So can we expect any hot lovin' on screen? 'There are love triangles - and fourangles - going on. Plenty of intrigue. It's quite passionate, very Latin.' Have there been any off-set shenanigans amongst the cast? 'We start at quarter to five in the morning, which is too early for hanky-panky. We all get on well and go out for drinks, but I've not seen anything going on. They might be acting really discreetly. I certainly haven't done anything. I'm a professional.'
New series of Dream Team, Sunday evenings, 8pm from September 28th on Sky One
