How did you decide to start writing about relationships and what made you want to cater them to towards the military?
I really did not decide to start writing about relationships. When I was 22 years old I was the co-host of the SiriusXM radio show "DeVore and Diana." Our callers began asking me relationship questions, the next thing I knew I was getting asked to talk about relationships on TV, in print and beyond. I realized how much I enjoyed it and continued to take the opportunities. Now, with years worth of on-the-job experience and continuing my education for a master's degree in mental health counseling, I have become extremely passionate about assisting others in their relationship trials and tribulations.
What are the top three questions guys ask you on your show?
What is the quickest way to pick up a girl, is a threesome a real possibility and how can I know if she'll cheat?
What turns you off on a date?
If you want to get a girl, then listen closely: Having decent table manners matters. I can’t stand when a guy gets his meal before me and chows down. To make it worse, usually he is chewing with his mouth open spewing little food particles across the table. Immediately, my interest in him begins to wane. Yes, mastication is sexy, that’s a fact—but it’s sexiest when you do it with your mouth closed. Women like a little mystery.
Are bromances sexy?
After I Love You, Man came out it seemed every guy was becoming starry-eyed over his dude posse. At first, it was cute but now it’s like Saccharin: overly sweet and could potentially cause cancer. Listen, men—if you want to express affection, try it with your girlfriends. We are dying for tiny signs that you love us, or even like us. I want a return to the good ol’ days of male bonding. Stop discussing your dreams and feelings—man up and talk about sports or boobs. And please, boys, replace hugs with high fives, chest bumps or crushing beer cans on your heads. Now that is bromantic.
What is something no one knows about you?
I was bitten by a copperhead snake when I was 13 years old. I had to be rushed to the hospital and given anti-venom. The crazy thing is only a week later I was bit by a water snake in another lake. The doctors said the odds of being bit by one snake is like being struck by lightning but two is craziness. I avoid murky water and snakes ; )
