Born in Massachusetts of Latin American and Greek ancestry, Carissa’s exotic beauty led to her being discovered as a model at age 10. A powerful presence in person and on camera, she was a natural for pageants and has won five titles, some of them even as she pursued studies at Florida State University in nutrition and exercise science. She was a 2nd runner-up to Miss Latina USA. And after competing in the American Dream pageant, she was hired as a spokesmodel for the event, touring Europe and appearing at the Cannes Film Festival.
Carissa moved to Los Angeles where she was hired to host the show Como TV for Telemundo. She has continued hosting, dancing and modeling with other Spanish-speaking networks. And she has appeared in two national commercials – for Burger King (with P. Diddy!) and Comcast Cable. Her work on the Big Screen includes roles in From Mexico with Love, Miss B's Hair Salon, and Ride Sweet Die Slow (in which she has the lead and decorates the DVD cover).
Carissa’s career is going strong in 2010. This year she has been featured in numerous magazines, including “Maxim,” “Maxim-Greece,” “Lowrider-Girls, “Show,” “Bride Magazine,” “Kaboom,” and “Rukus.” A “Maxim-Indonesia” article is coming soon. She appeared on the cover of “Lowrider” and “Kaboom,” and, based on fan voting, she’s one of the 100 top “Maxim Hometown Hotties” She was featured on the runway at Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica. And she recently signed on as a spokesmodel for both Aquacouture swimwear and Hot Import Nights.
What else is to come? Carissa on the airwaves? Yes! During her busy schedule she’s found time to work on studio recording. We can look forward to the release of her first single in early 2011.
