High-kicking and ball-breaking, it's the angel with attitude. Lucy Liu was such a simmering dominatrix in Ally McBeal that Quentin Tarantino has called on her stiletto style for his latest film. But right now marvel at her moves as she goes Full Throttle for Charlie...
You recently did a cover shoot with Maxim US. What kind of feedback have the masses given you about it?
Everyone thought it was really sexy, fresh, and new. I did it a little differently this time though - instead of posing, we did it on a beach, and I was running around and smiling. It wasn't that 'look at me' type of thing. This time Cameron, Drew, and I are together and kind of playing that up. We know it's Maxim, and we're having fun with it. It's really sexy and funny, but you guys make light of yourselves which is good.
Were you shocked by how well the first Charlie's Angels' film did?
Yes! We had no idea how it was going to turn out. Audiences seemed to have their arms crossed going in because making a TV show into a movie has been done so many times before, and not done well. But after it came out, everyone kept asking me if there was going to be a sequel. So that was a really good time, you know?
How much is your character, Alex, like you?
Well, in this movie they bring out Alex's humour much more, and I like that. She's sarcastic and very meticulous and I think I'm that way too. She's very loyal, and that's something I am to the people I care about.
OK, Ms Tornado, say Alex gets into a bar fight with Lara Croft and The Matrix's Trinity. Who keeps her teeth?
Shit, I don't know, man! Trinity is pretty kick-ass. And I have to say I'd be very happy to get my ass kicked by Trinity; those movies are so hot. But I can say that the character I play in Kill Bill wouldn't get her ass kicked by anyone. She'd do the ass-kicking.
Which role of yours gets the strangest reactions from fans on the street?
Usually this one, Alex. But also Ling from Ally McBeal. People love her; they say her lines. They also like the dominatrix from Payback.
