The most honest test of strength you can attempt is lifting your own bodyweight. It’s also a great way to burn calories and get the lean body you want. This 30-minute circuit, which uses the simple and widely available home pull-up bar, uses upper body and core exercises to torch fat while toning your muscles. Do it three times a week and within a month you’ll be fitter, lighter and stronger.
How to do this workout
All you need for this workout is a pull-up bar. The most convenient piece of kit is a doorway bar, which takes seconds to put up and take down (make sure that your door frame is strong enough to hold the bar and that you place it perfectly level).
Do the following exercises in order, taking no rest in between. Once you’ve completed one circuit rest for two to three minutes before going around again. You should complete at least two circuits, while regular exercisers can attempt four or more. Do the circuit three times a week for four weeks, leaving at least one day in between workouts. If you find any of the moves too difficult you can set the height of the bar so your feet will be supported through the lift – you can still take most of your weight on your arms by bending your knees.
