Why am I getting dizzy?

Discover what could be causing your dizzy spells after a run

I’ve started running on the treadmills at my gym and I feel fine during the run, but when I stop I become nauseated and dizzy. What’s wrong with me?
Mark Hampton, via email

Matt Hart replies:
There are a number of possibilities here. You may be able to solve the problem by hydrating more thoroughly before and during exercise. Use a carbohydrate-based energy drink that also contains electrolytes (salts), because low blood sugar, low salt levels and dehydration have all been linked to post-exercise nausea. If this doesn’t work, consult your doctor. You may be suffering from diabetes or another serious medical condition.
