I hate fish. I know I should eat it, but I just can’t. What do you recommend I eat so I don’t miss out nutritionally?

Dr Sarah Schenker, nutrionist answers:
The most important nutrients you’re missing out on by not eating fish are the long-chain omega 3 fatty acids. These fats have been shown to be beneficial for heart health, the immune system, arthritis, asthma, psoriasis and Crohn’s disease, as well as helping to prevent insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. The current recommendation for fish intake is two portions a week, one of which should be oily. If you can’t manage this, try a good fish oil supplement (but not cod liver oil, as it contains different types of fatty acids). You don’t have to take it every day; three times a week is fine. Alternatively, try eggs that have been enriched with fish oils. The hens are fed omega 3 fatty acids in their feed, which are then incorporated into the yolks. Eat these eggs a few times a week.
