Phillip Hodson, psychotherapist, replies: The standard way of remembering people's names is to associate something you won't forget with each different face.
For instance, if you meet someone called Bob, you can turn his name into a mnemonic that describes his looks: 'Bearded Old Bloke' = B.O.B. Or if the name is too long for that, say Penelope, you can try image association. Perhaps she looks like a cat, so imagine a cat writing with a pen. Then when you see her again you'll remember the cat, which will remind you of the pen, which will give you a clue to her name.
