No movie monsters carry a greater legacy in cinema than Ray 'the animator' Harryhausen's creatures. A cross between Wallace and Gromitt and the scary boy's toys you find in Argos, Harryhausen mastered the 'stop motion' technique of shooting models 'frame by frame', then 'blowing them up' onscreen to create the illusion of gigantism.
The remake of his 1981 Greek Mythology epic Clash Of The Titans is out on 2 April. We'll be whipping out the DVD original in celebration. Here's our pick of Harryhausen's FINEST CREATURE CREATIONS. Is it just us or are they still fucking scary?!?
CYCLOPS (The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad)
The great big fucker used to BBQ humans alive over a roaring campfire!
THE TROGLODITE (Sinbad And The Eye Of The Tiger)
Ape-like thing turned out to be friendly and cute!
HYDRA (Jason And The Argonauts)
Multi-headed horror!
CERATOSAURUS AND TRICERATOPS (One Million Years B.C.)
Early Jurassic Park mayhem.
TALOS (Jason And The Argonauts)

More effective than Cloverfield.
YMIR (Twenty Million Miles To Earth)
King Kong wannabe from the planet Venus.
GRIFFIN vs CENTAUR (Golden Voyage Of Sinbad)
The cuddly griffin takes on the hoof-footed horror from Greek mythology's darkest realms.
THE SKELETONS (Jason And The Argonauts)
Rattly fight scene legend.
