1) CRISPIN GLOVER ON LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN (1987)
Renowned for his extreme eccentricity, Back To The Future's George McFly took to Letterman's stage adorning a lady's wig and platform boots. After rattling off some anti-press quips and trading vitriolic banter with an audience member, he delivered an impromptu karate-kick barely inches from the host's face. Letterman didn't hang around for the rest of the interview.
2) BRIGITTE NIELSEN ON FANTASY FOOTBALL (1998)
It was hard to determine whether Sly Stallone's '6-ft action missus' ex was off her face or is just naturally a bit, um, strange. Either this way, this World Cup interview left Baddiel and Skinner gawking on in visible disbelief, while viewers divebombed behind sofas to cringe in privacy. The bit when she attacks Baddiel with a flattened pastry is impromptu TV bonkersness!
3) GEORGE BEST ON WOGAN (1990)
The boozy football legend turned up on the primetime telly show to proclaim his love for "screwing" and swear in front of millions - courtesy of quite a few pints. And when we say 'pints', we probably mean 'pints of petrol'.
4) THE SEX PISTOLS vs 'DIRTY SOD' BILL GRUNDY ON TODAY (1976)
Goading the potty-mouthed punksters on live telly proved to be the beginning of the end for Bill Grundy and his presenting career. But he did make for some crackingly notorious TV. (Interestingly, guitarist Steve Jones' "f**k" quips were only the fourth and fifth times the word had been heard on British TV).
5) JESSE JAMES DUPREE ON THE NEW TOM GREEN SHOW (2003)
The frontman of heavy metallers Jackyl chainsawed the host's desk in half, a prank which couldn't have gone down any worse if it came with a free packet of anthrax. Check out the musical jam later in the show to realise just how riled 'funnyman' Tom Green was. Classic!
6) OLIVER REED ON ASPEL AND COMPANY (197x) (alternatively, on THE WORD in 199x)
Pissed as a fart, or simply an expertly-performed xxx. Either way, the sadly-missed acting stalwart knew how to move!
7) TOM CRUISE ON OPRAH (2005)
If you can sit through the little man's sofa-jumping proclamaition of love for Katy Holmes again, you're made of stronger stuff than us. Personally, we prefer the Isaac Hayes (RIP) overdub - also below...
8) MATTHEW KELLY ON THE FRANK SKINNER SHOW (2003)
Having just been cleared of underage sex offences, the Stars In Their Eyes presenter appeared on Frank Skinner's telly stage, hiding an ulterior motive for his appearance. Weeks earlier, stand-up Skinner had cracked a joke about Kelly's then-ongoing case. Kelly took no prisoners, confronting the comedian, while a stunned audience looked on in complete silence. "Is that joke funny to you?" Kelly questioned the viewers. There came no reply. It made for arguably the most uncomfortable moment in TV history. Sadly though, we can't find a bloody clip!
9) DAVID BLAINE ON GMTV (2002)
Freak! Of this interview, Eammon Holmes told Maxim: "David Blaine was a very, very strange interview. I never really worked him out. I went to see him when he was in his box over the Thames and he dropped me a note from his box which said, ‘Hi, really good seeing you, we had such a blast last time.’ I sent him one back saying, ‘Well, I’m glad one of us did.’ Idiot!"
10) THE BEE GEES ON THAT CLIVE ANDERSON SHOW (1996)
The high-pitched disco shriekers became a punchbag for Anderson's acerbic wit, until they could take no more. "You're the tosser pal!" they snorted before two of them headed for a premature exit. Touche!
And one for luck...
