As well as being a lifelong Liverpool supporter and Sky Sports presenter, during the 2010 World Cup Charlotte Jackson will be on the Budweiser Prediciton Panel alongside Ruud Gullit and stats-guru, Matt Nesbitt. She’ll be giving football fans a run for their money making predictions on all the games on the Budsweiser Predict & Win website. But does she know her stuff? We asked her for her all-time World Cup XI to assess her knowledge…
Me and my brother stayed up to watch the semi-final and it was heartbreaking seeing Gazza cry. He was amazing throughout that tournament.
1 Iker Casillas (Spain, GK)
“He’s hot! And he’s not bad in goal either…”
2 Cafu (Brazil, RB)
“He’s brilliant to watch – I loved the way he used to bomb up and down the wings. He’s also played in more World Cup finals than anyone else, so he has the experience.”
3 Paolo Maldini (Italy, LB)
[She’s cajoled into this by the Maldini-loving Gullit, who enters the fray part-through Maxim’s interview with Charlotte]
4 Bobby Moore (England, CB)
“The World Cup winning captain. Need I give more reasoning than that?”
5 Steven Gerrard (England, MR)
“Liverpool through-and-through. A total legend in red and going to do the business for us this year at the World Cup!”
6 Michel Platini (France, CM)
“He was truly mesmeric to watch and one of me and my brother’s favourite players when we were growing up.”
7 Gazza (England, CM)
“Me and my brother stayed up to watch the semi-final and it was heartbreaking seeing him cry. He was amazing throughout that tournament. An amazing talent and a great character.”
8 Diego Maradona (Argentina, ML)
“Always has a “hands-on” approach if you know what I mean [wink wink].”
9 Messi (Argentina, FW)
“A little genius and we’ll deserved FIFA World Player of the Year. I presented him with that trophy too, so I have to put him in!”
10 Pele (Brazil, FW)
“Pele doesn’t need a reason, does he?”
11 Peter Beardsley (England, FW)
"Ian Rush is my favourite ever Liverpool player, but I can’t pick him here, so I’ll go for Peter Beardsley instead...”
Charlotte Jackson is part of the Budweiser Prediction Panel, encouraging football fans to make 2010 FIFA World Cup™ predictions at www.budweiser.co.uk/predictandwin to be in with a chance of winning fantastic prizes including £100,000
