Back in 1965 West Ham United won the Cup Winners Cup against TSV Munich at Wembley Stadium, and Captain Bobby Moore lifted that piece of silverware perhaps never imagining that six months later he would be in the same spot holding the World Cup aloft to a delirious crowd. That West Ham team featured eleven English players, not unusual at the time, and all but two of them were produced by the West Ham Academy. Besides Martin Peters, Geoff Hurst and Moore the Hammers had a team of outstanding talent, including Brain Dear and John Sissons.
This video tribute to Moore is about Moore the player, not just Moore the England captain. So put aside any qualms yo may have about Hammers songs and let a by-gone era wash over you like a tide of goodness, and tip your cap to our greatest Number 6 ever.
