31 August: Chris Tucker born

Making a name for himself as a frequent performer on Def Comedy Jam, Tucker made his movie debut in House Party 3, but eventually made himself known as an actor alongside Ice Cube in the highly amusing comedy Friday, closely followed by Money Talks and Fifth Element.

He is arguably best know for his appearance as Detective James Carter in the Rush Hour Trilogy, starring with Jackie Chan, as part of a crime fighting, wise cracking, butt kicking duo.
