This Day In History
27 July: First appearance of Bugs Bunny

Bugs Bunny makes his first appearance in an animated short entitled 'A Wild Hare'. Oh boy! Wabbit twacks!

The greatest cartoon character of all time? We'd like to think so.

The accolade itself was actually given by 'TV Guide' in 2002, fighting off stiff competition from the rest of the Looney Tunes bunch, and all other cartoon characters from the past 70 odd years.

The cartoon itself finally settled on the appearance and voice of the ever-failing hunter, Elmer Fudd, with his look in this cartoon being the basis for his final design.

Bugs is known for his catchphrases, the most popular of which is "Eh... what's up, doc?", along with "Of course you realise, this means war.", "Ain't I a stinker?" and "I knew I shoulda taken that left turn at Albuquerque."

Just out of interest, see how many of those you can fit into general conversation. Bonus points if you can do it at work, and on the telephone.
