As another one of mankinds great feats, there are always going to be detractors saying it never happened.
The official story says that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin touched down on the moons surface at 20:17 UTC and spent nearly 22 hours hopping around on the surface, collecting rocks, looking for the man that lives there, and uttering immortal lines such as 'One small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind'. As an earthling, you've probably heard that at some point or another.
The less official story says that the moon landing never happened, and it was all a hoax thought up to try and show that the U.S. made it to the moon before anybody else did. Popular theories to support this? The Flat Earth Society was one of the first to accuse NASA of faking the landings, arguing that they were staged by Hollywood with Walt Disney sponsorship and based on a script by Arthur C. Clarke and directed by Stanley Kubrick.
We're still waiting for the directors cut of the DVD, but we digress...
In all honesty, there are far, far too many theories and rebuttals thereof to list and discuss here, so we'll just give you a video of Buzz Aldrin's reponse to being called a coward and liar in regards to his part of the so-called hoax. Enjoy, and keep pressing play. We sure did.
