This year Sergio Tacchini celebrates 40 years of supplying Italian dash and style to the international pro-tennis circuit - and from there to our high streets.
He started serving aces immediately, with kits that weren't all white; a real style shock at the time. In the early 70s Jimmy Connors took Tacchini's new style, with its iconic red and green-sleeved tops, to Wimbledon - and won wearing it.
Other players of the era began busting chic new Tacchini kits, and the brand was up and running. Eventually John McEnroe was signed to champion the brand and gave it massive exposure. From there it became a prestige imported label for progressive dressers of the 80s.
Tacchini's still crown prince of Italian sports-casual posturing - and has even infiltrated the skiing and motor-racing arenas. This summer the brand is bringing us a revitalised footwear range, taking classic lines and working in bright colours. It's also deploying its new logo in a repeated print, and reissuing items with the original round 'ST' emblem.
