YMC is one of those great UK labels that’s managed to keep itself distinctive while consistently coming up with clothes you really want to wear. Designers Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins will be celebrating the label’s 10th anniversary in 2006. Moss says: ‘I can't believe we’re still here!’
Witness the new killer hand knits, with distressed-leather buttons, and indigo jeans with washable leather cinch back. Designs are influenced by mid 20th-century eastern European workwear, with a few military references thrown in. YMC encourages people to get creative with their look.
Moss says: ‘We try to make fashion a little less serious. I like to mix a bit of old with a bit of new’. The brand’s other work includes a range of T-shirts made in conjunction with Marvel Comics – featuring classic superheroes such as the Hulk and Silver Surfer. This collection, however, is more grown up, and can be found at Liberty and Duffer Of St George.
