H&M

The high street gets back to nature and camp(site)s it up

Looks like H&M has been watching reruns of Gentle Ben to get inspiration for its great American outdoors-themed autumn/winter collection.

Your childhood memories of wholesome clothing like checked shirts, cord jeans and homespun chunky knits will come flooding back like a beaver’s burst dam. Thankfully, a somewhat more grown-up look can be achieved from the stores’ rustic blend of folksy and worksy pieces.

Hard-wearing, washed-out denim, vintage-looking suede and leather jackets and plaid shirting are key. As are heavy knits – minus the scratchy wool and dropped stitching (courtesy of your arthritic gran). The store also offers a range of minimalist pieces, and perfectly proportioned, customary clothes.
