Cartier - Santos 100 Shiny combo of gold and steel on your wrist In 1906, Santos Dumont made the first powered flight in Europe and emerged from his plane checking a wristwatch, created for him by good friend Louis Cartier. It was designed as an alternative to the watch-fob and as Santos was a fashion icon, he started the wristwatch trend immediatly. In 1978, Cartier launched the Santos de Cartier watch, which mixed gold and steel and made a feature of the gold screws, turning horology on its pompous head. The 'Santos 100' is Cartier's new embodiement of its founder's intrepid ethic, and what a handsome devil it is too.
