Founded by Scottish businessmen William Lyle and Walter Scott, the brand with the swooping eagle used to be reserved for the fairways of the golf course but has gradually chipped its way into the mainstream. And given the amount of rubbish that adorns the shelves of late, for this alone we should be grateful.
Which is why it always brings a smile to our chapped, snarling little mushes to see a new season's collection emerge from the Kings of the Knits.
A/W 2011 welcomes a well-engineered combination of heritage and on-trend style, taking old pieces and giving them a subtle slap of modern woolen chic.
We love the Jacquard Polka dot and tartan check shirts, and the smooth bomber neck sweater, and will quite happily sway from lumberjack cool to highland gent along with Lyle and Scott this winter.
Go have a look and see what we mean.
