“These are the trainers you’re looking for…”

If someone polite, who was better looking than us and higher up on the food chain, asked us to take two things that we really liked and then mash them together without in any way spoiling the history or tarnishing the reputation of either, we wouldn’t have been able to do as good a job as what adidas and Star Wars have done with this recent collaboration.

The sportswear masters of Herzogenaurach have journeyed way past Jar Jar Binks and his pathetic mob of amphibic fucknuts to a “galaxy far, far away” populated by cool stormtroopers, AT-ATs and embittered former Jedis with deep voices and an overwhelming penchant for the “dark side”.

And they’ve emerged the other side with their intergalctic needle and thread intact to present a collaborative collection of some note with some really ace, stand-out pieces that not only make you realise just how well a pair of shell toes would have gone down in Mos Eisley, but also that retro collborations needn’t feel shamefully forced and commercial.

Being fans of a clean trainer, the Forum Mid AT-AT which are “lifted straight from the Battle of Hoth”, and the Millenium Falcon Stan Smiths immediately strike a chord.

On the release it is mooted that “the famous Trefoil continues to ‘Celebrate Originality’ with this STAR WARS collaboration, imagining and daring to bring to life a unique and innovative vision.”

We’ll not disagree with that.
