WHAT'S THE STORY?
The long-awaited next-generation instalment of this celebrated series sees undercover cop Tanner back in the driving seat, and voiced by none other than Tarantino perennial, Michael Madsen. Other vocal talent includes Mickey Rourke, Ving Rhames and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as a slew of licensed music tracks, all of which contribute to the Hollywood-style production values.
Miami, Nice and Istanbul are brought to life in authentic detail, with stunning visuals and more than 50 controllable vehicles. The game sees a tight narrative played out in sequential fashion, with the action interspersed by glossy cut scenes. As well as the numerous driving sections, Tanner spends a lot of time on foot, and while it's not as polished as the in-car action, it gives you chance to stretch your legs.
Although not quite the masterpiece hoped for, Driv3r is still a huge game by anyone's standards. That said, the prohibitive difficulty level - including the trademark near impossible section - may deter the more casual gamer.
