When Grand Theft Auto III emerged a few yearsago it turned the notion of gaming on its head.Mixing popular culture and outrageously violent interactive gameplay raised a few eyebrows, but created something unique. Until now.
Playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is like gettinga part in a gangster film. In fact, there are so many cinematic references in this Miami-based city that you'll constantly find little details to amuse you.The plot pays homage to the best of the gangster genre, and with quality animations and a cast of voices that includes Ray Liotta, Dennis Hopper and Luis Guzman you'd be forgiven for thinking at times that it really is a movie.
If you don't feel like playing along, that's fine.Your character will be able to 'borrow' anything from mopeds to helicopters and look for other missions down sidestreets, so there's no chance of boredom. There'll always something to blow up in Vice City.
An '80s Latino paradise is yours to explore, right down to authentic radio stations. The detail is so stunning you could get lost for an hour listening to Kool And The Gang or looking for outfits to wear on a fat motorbike. Unless you prefer to concentrate on killing people with the huge amount of weaponry available.
The only way you'll get a sense of how big this isis to play it. So what are you waiting for, mooks?
