Back for a brand new season on National Geographic Channel from Tuesday 4th October, Banged Up Abroad reveals terrifying tales of every traveller's worst fear - imprisonment abroad, where an exotic holiday can turn into a living hell in the blink of an eye.
From gruesome jails to chilling kidnappings, you’ll live through the panic, tears and desperation as each dreadful story unfolds, and hear the true stories of imprisonment abroad.
Episode 1 kicks the series off with a special episode focusing on notorious former mobster Henry Hill, often known as ‘The Real Goodfella’, or 'Biggus Twattus' as we've named him in the office, after providing the inspiration for Martin Scorsese’s movie. A charming fella we're sure you'll agree.
The episode features action-packed re-enactments and Hill himself recounting some of his most notorious crimes - documenting his descent from Mafia wiseguy to a spell in Terminal Island Penitentiary.
Later in the series we’ll hear the terrifying stories of people who did some really stupid stuff like Brigene Young, locked up in a Mauritian jail for heroin trafficking aged only 20 (bad idea), and the tale of Chris Chance, a former soldier thrown into a notorious Spanish prison after being convicted of smuggling 500kg of hashish (bad idea) – plus many more terrifying tales of people who find themselves banged up abroad (for having bad ideas).
You don't need to worry too much though. Don't be an idiot and you won't find yourself in the slammer!
