Upon tearing open the box like a bunch of over-excited kids on Christmas morning, the first thing that strikes us about the Xperia arc is just how pretty it is. It is slim and curved... two of the best things in the world combined! The design on the arc is literally that, meaning both ends are only 9mm thick with the middle coming in at 8.7mm.
Features on the phone itself include an 8MP camera with Sony's Exmor R picture enhancing quality (so we got to see just how ugly we really are), with f/2.4 lens. An LED flash means darkness won't hold you back, and video can also be recorded at 720p which goes nicely with the HDMI out port on the top of the phone.
Running on the latest Android operating system with a 1GHz Qualcomm processor makes full use of the beautiful 4.2 inch display. All the other standard bits and bobs are here too, such as the 3.5mm audio jack, 802.11 WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and 512mb RAM. You will also find an 8GB microSD card chucked in as well, as you can get snapping and filming and not have to worry about changing anytime soon.
The standard 3 button set up is present and correct, and is a familiar and welcome sight. Navigating the idiot-proof menus is a breeze. Also, and we were highly entertained by this, there is a kick-ass golf game as standard which reminds us alot of Everybody's Golf on the Playstation!
The only downside we found is the initial loading time of the phone, which takes longer than most computers do to start up and get running. Good thing you'll rarely be restarting it then, eh!
