The whole world is obsessed with video now. That’s why we include a lot of it on this very site. Because people like it.
We do too. In fact, we’re filming ourselves writing this article. And someone on the opposite desk is filming us filming ourselves. And filming himself doing it.
On video footgae you can capture the nuances and delicacies of a moment, you see. It is a very revealing medium. If you had a conversation with a Flip Video Ultra and a digital camera, the Flip would be very forthcoming and tell you everything. The digicam would be more vague and reluctant to tell the whole truth.
When we tested this piece of kit, we took it down the pub and pretended one of the less cerebral of our mates was in some way famous and that we were recording his every move on camera. Not many people responded with enthusiasm. One girl did though. She was quite gullible. It was funny.
Anyway, the new update of the Flip Video Ultra in question (see pic) has had its internal memory capacity doubled to 8GB (which helps it remember more stuff, about two hours worth actually), the screen has been expanded to two inches (which is just better, for obvious reasons) and the whole kit and caboodle – which is generally just good – starts at just £159.99.
If you filmed us spending that sort of money, it wouldn’t take long. So we reckon it’s worth it. The bloke opposite us agrees.
(And yes, we hope those people on the bikes fall off soon too.)
