The Bravery

Rating:

WHAT'S THE DEAL? New Yorkians attempt to follow in The Killers footsteps with their own brand of moody, '80s-inspired synth rock.

TO BE HONEST: Simmering pop hooks and layered electro meanderings immediately invoke sonic images of New Order and Duran Duran. Suspiciously derivative, but packs in enough guitar bite and nu-romantic atmos to instigate shivers across indie dancefloors everywhere.

LISTEN OUT FOR: 'An Honest Mistake'. Begins like a total rip-off of New Order's 'Blue Monday', but manages a few neat tricks of its own.

PLAY: Just to remind us that New York is finally back on the musical map after originally inspiring with '70s art punk greats such as Television and Blondie.
