Anyone with half an interest in movies will know that talented director Quentin Tarantino just loves to fill his pictures with all manner of filmic references for the devoted to mull over for hours after they've seen the film. Thus it is frequently the same with music; just lend an ear to the soundtracks for Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction and delight in the retro sounds he's culled from the vaults. With the soundtrack to the forthcoming second instalment of Kill Bill he blends the old and the new, much as he did with the first volume. Here the rumbling old tones of the late Johnny Cash mix it with new music from Malcolm McClaren, Charlie Feathers, Wu-Tang Clan, Oriental jazz (Chingon), Hispanic rock (Luis Bacalov) and the always wonderful soundscapes of Ennio Morricone. It's a mixed bag, rather like the film itself, but equally, just as enjoyably compelling.FREEBIES: If you missed out on our last Kill Bill giveaway don't worry, we've managed to blag five more Kill Bill Vol. 2 soundtracks (courtesy of Maverick Records) and five Kill Bill Vol.1 DVDs courtesy of Buena Vista Home Entertainment.
