If the idea of The Byrds crossed with The Flaming Lips sounds just too damn hippy, don't reach for your gun just yet. Like a laboured episode of Degrassi Junior High, Grandaddy prove that being 'different' can be 'cool'. It's weirdy, beardy, spacey alt-country-rock - only with classic pop hooks reminiscent of The Lightning Seeds (but in a good way). Splendid.
