We disliked Placebo for sounding American. Then we found out the singer is American, which made it ok

WHAT'S THE STORY? Rentboy punkiness from the androgynous lot. Available from all good retailers and outer-city kerbs.

TO BE HONEST: Has the world stopped rotating? Are the people at the bottom end tumbling off? This could easily be any Placebo album from the last six years. Possibly a good thing if you're an ardent fan and like nail varnish.

DESCRIBE AS: Brooding, naughty and melodic.

DO NOT DESCRIBE AS: A drum and bass epic featuring the vocal talents of village criers.
