WHAT'S THE STORY? The Beta Band are one of those acts you think you know nothing about, until you put on a compilation like this, and find yourself humming half their catalogue. Which makes them a bit like Shed Seven, only not as s**t.

TO BE HONEST: Titillating selection of airy, intelligent indie tunes. Second disc is live, which means it's got shouty bits as well.

TRACKS YOU'LL KNOW: That 'sleeping with the flowers' one. It's called 'Squares'.
