When: 24 July 2010
Where: Milton Keynes Bowl
Despite the oft overused phrase, I struggle to think of many few things you must do before you die. Which probably explains why I spend most of my days playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live, watching Men Behaving Badly re-runs on Dave TV or downloading exotic pornography from countries with more than 11 letters in their name.
That doesn't stop me owning a piece of paper, crudely headed 'things to do before I die' though. On that list is seeing The Prodigy live. These 40-something nutters are still utterly awesome, more thrilling than a Christopher Nolan movie and scarier than a flailing army of zombie hands inadvertently erupting out of your toilet, mid-crap, and making a fumbly bid for your testicles.
At Milton Keynes Bowl, they delivered a live show to end all live shows. They noisily rampaged through a set that included such haunting, beat-heavy classics as Poison, Firestarter, Invaders Must Die and Breathe, before finishing off with Smack My Bitch Up. Some 70,000-odd people jumped up and down. They left a huge crater in the earth, which would explain why I finished the show about 28-feet further down than I started.
Until The Prodigy next play live again, I will be mostly sat indoors playing Halo: Reach on Xbox Live. Until then...
