AC/DC 'Backtracks' Standard Ed.
Sony Music has just released three great ROCK packages. You can win the lot in one fell swoop, because we've got THREE SETS TO GIVE AWAY! But first you must read our reviews. It's a small price to pay. Honest!
AC/DC 'BACKTRACKS'
Nope, not a dull old 'back-catalogue-in-a-box' - although the Antiopedian rockers could probably flog their old socks if they wanted to - 'Backtracks' is an amp-shaped boxset of career-spanning studio rarities and live tracks across two CDs, and MEGA live footage and promos on the much-lauded 'Family Jewels' DVD (1992-2009).
Musically, there's some true gems on this as well: 'Crabsody In Blue', for instance, doesn't just have a great, STD-esque name, it's got a killer riff as well.
Also available as a £150 (ouch!) DELUXE EDITION, which is packaged inside a WORKING AMP and comes with various memorabilia.
FOO FIGHTERS 'GREATEST HITS'
When Dave Grohl’s not busy moonlighting in various supergroups and flaunting his multi-instrumentalist skills like a proper show-offy git, he’s rocking out his joyous singalongs with the Foos. Their back catalogue is alt.rock with a giant grin, and this Greatest Hits unloads catchy hooks and mighty choruses by the truckload.
Tracks like ‘Everlong’, ‘Monkey Wrench’ and ‘Times Like These’ are not only top tunes, but they’re the antithesis of feeling miserable. The loudest way of ridding those wintry blues!
THEM CROOKED VULTURES 'THEM CROOKED VULTURES'
We reviewed Dave Grohl's Led Zep-fantasising supergroup last week, and you can read that here.
Alternatively, you can just read this review, courtesy of Josh Ryan, aged 13, Plymouth: 'It's really good. It reminds me of QOTSA, but with lots of stompy Led Zep bits. My mum liked it a lot as well. Now give me a writing job you bastards.' Thanks Josh.
NOW DO YOU WANT TO WIN ALL THIS??? WELL, HURRAY YOU CAN!
Simply answer the following question correctly and email your answer and details to chaps@maxim.co.uk. The first three names we pull out of the hat wins a bundle of all three. SIMPLE!
Q: Dave Grohl used to be the drummer in which seminal Seattle grunge three-piece?
