Urbanised, folky, genre-mashing magic from the master of the quirky lyric. Gentlemen, it's Jamie T! *WIN CDS*
By Stephen Daultrey
September 2009
Jamie T is only 24 and he's already made two rather good, quintessentially English albums. In fact, his new one - 'Kings And Queens' couldn't be any more English if it came with plastic Oscar Wilde and King Henry VIII action figures sellotaped to the case, and a voucher for Golden Delicious apples at your local Asda.
Following the precedent set by his Mercury-nominated debut 'Panic Prevention', T continues to marry wry, semi-raps to uplifting acoustic strums, and his new album is littered with stand-out alt. pop corkers and funny, meaningful lyrics. After just three office spins, 'Sticks 'N' Stones', 'Chaka Demus' and '368' had taken up permanent residence in our brains. He even convinces with touching urbanised ballads ('Emily's Heart').
The downside to all this is that we've started humming like milkmen. Which is very annoying. The workie sitting opposite me has been giving me evils for the last hour. It's a small price to pay. This album really is a bit tasty.

We test all our albums on a NaimUniti
stereo. If we were testing for sound quality, every album would get
five stars. But we're good little journalists, so we can't. Check out
