We thought Apocalypto was an ice lolly, until we found out it was a great new film by Mel Gibson

WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Bloody violent flick from Mel Gibson about the fall of the rainforest-dwelling Mayan civilisation. Our hero gets captured by rival natives and primed for sacrifice. He escapes though. Run boy run!

ANY GOOD? A powerful, pumped-up, emotional period piece that'll shock and excite. Mel Gibson deserves backslaps so hard they'll leave red handprints behind.
