Berry plays a psychologist working in a women's asylum who's troubled by rantings about demonic possession by mentalist Penelope Cruz. Then, one night she has a disturbing encounter with a mysterious girl and blacks out. She awakes to find herself locked up in her own asylum, accused of butchering her husband. Is she being possessed too? She has to run down a lot of dark corridors to find out. Gothika is top 'quality' Saturday night fare: daft, undemanding emotional button-pushing that'll have your girlfriend cowering in your lap, while you hoot with derision at the screen. Berry establishes herself as a natural Scream Queen, in that her acting is unconvincing and she has a chest to rival any Hammer Horror maiden. Great fun.
