Just the sort of movie that The English Patient director Minghella does well: a star-packed novel adaptation about love, loss and war. This time out it's the American Civil War, with injured confederate soldier Law battling his way across country to get home to his childhood sweetheart Kidman. Glossy, intelligent and moving.
