Suave, gobby advertising exec Roger (Scott) is a man teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown. He's just been dumped by his girlfriend (Rossellini), who also happens to be his boss, and his life is starting to look pretty pointless. Which is just when his teenage nephew Nick (Eisenberg) unexpectedly turns up in his office looking for someone to teach him all about girls...
From the moment that Roger kicks the movie off by explaining that - what with the sexual power of the clitoris and in vitro fertilisation - men are only going to be useful to women until the ladies learn telekinesis and can move sofas on their own, to the unpredictable end of Nick and Roger's mystery tour through the exotic night life of New York, this is a viciously funny film. Unashamedly wordy, hugely quotable and perfectly played by a cast, that also includes Elizabeth Showgirls Berkley, Roger Dodger's half In The Company Of Men with gags, half Swingers with sucker punches and wholly, totally unmissable. Forget the allure of the summer blockbuster and give it a try.
