If the crash, bang, wallop trailer is anything to go by, a ton of cash has been splurged on this graphic novel adaptation about a team of Victorian superheroes plucked from the pages of English literature. Connery plays soldier of fortune Allan Quatermain (from King Solomon's Mines), who in, ahem, league with Captain Nemo, Dr Jeckyll/Mr Hyde, Mina Harker (from Dracula), the invisible man, Dorian Gray and Tom Sawyer, battles evil - not to mention dyslexic - villain The Fantom.
Rumours of on-set friction between Connery and director Stephen Norrington, plus a disastrous shoot in Prague (they were flooded out), suggest this could be a big budget mess. On the other hand, it could just be stylish and silly enough to dish out a surprise kicking to the summer's other blockbuster contenders.
