O'Malley (Caine) is a vain, cowardly Dublin theatre star who draws his friend, inept thespian Tom (Moran) into a scheme to dupe a small-time crook out of big-time cash. The absurdist plot involves Tom wearing a variety of disguises in order to deceive the mob, get the girl and learn to act. Its nonsensical, deranged and, thanks to the inspired Moran, frequently wet-yourself funny.
