On death-row after allegedly raping and murdering his friend, David Gale (Spacey) agrees to be interviewed by an ambitious reporter (Winslet) before he is put to death so that he might give his side of the story. Is he innocent or guilty? Ultimately, it's difficult to care one way or the other as the story edges to a predictable conclusion.
