Based on the novel by Brett Easton American Psycho Ellis, The Rules Of Attraction is a ferocious piece of work about college kids, sex, drugs and suicide. Set in the shallow mid-1980s, Sean "brother of Patrick" Bateman (Van Der Beek) is a wise-ass drug dealer who falls for the virginal Lauren (Sossamon). True love is blown off course by dope, depression and death. Happy Days it ain't.
