Bob Crane (Kinnear), star of US sitcom Hogan's Heroes, was found murdered in 1978. Before then, a chance meeting with a video camera nerd (Dafoe) and an obsession with porn, quickly led to strippers for brunch and whores for dinner, all preserved on camera. Considering the sheer quantity of sleaze chronicled here, you'd expect something a little less clean from director Paul Schrader, who wrote Taxi Driver.
