As a Saigon correspondent forThe Times, Thomas Fowler (Caine), enjoys an idyllic life until the increasingly violent Vietnamese struggle for independence and the arrival of an American aid worker (Fraser),who falls in love with Fowler's mistress, threaten his world. Not as steamy as the love-triangle suggests, this adaptation of Graham Greene's classic story is still well worth seeing.
