A sort of medieval Apocalypse Now with Sean Bean in it, and a bloke who looks like the bassist from Spinal Tap... *EXCLUSIVE CLIP*
By Stephen Daultrey
June 2010
Ever wondered what Apocalypse Now might have been like if it was set in medieval England, and had a cult British horror director (of Creep, Severance fame) behind the camera, and Captain Darling from Blackadder 4 playing the Marlon Brando oddball?
Sean 'typically grumpy headcase' Bean leads a band of Holy Knights (and a monk) on a journey to track down a presumed necromancer, whose village is being magically protected from the plague that's ravishing the rest of the population. Filled with precarious danger and ye olde terror, and a rip-roaringly tense finale, Black Death is a horribly morbid yet entertaining thriller.
It's probably not mainstream enough to catapult the director into the, um, mainstream, but genre fans will be most enthralled...the gloomy, glum-faced f*cks!
