Director Ridley Scott, who has just finished working on his latest film, Robin Hood, has revealed that he’s moving ahead with his plans to make a prequel to Alien. This follows the resurrection of the standalone Predators franchise this summer.
Scott is planning to set the film 30 years before the birth of Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley, and will be about finding out who the ‘space jockey’ was in the original film. He was the guy sat in the chair in the alien vehicle, and Scott will also be overseeing redesigns of the aliens themselves.
He tells MTV that he’s hoping to have the film ready for 2011, although it may yet slip into 2012.
