Easily one of the more bizarre rumours doing the rounds about the fate of the next James Bond film, word has begun to circulate that Sam Worthington is being considered to take the on the role of 007.
This is an odd one. For starters, there’s little indication that Daniel Craig is hanging up his tuxedo. Presumably it’s come about as a result of the news earlier this week that the 23rd 007 adventure has stalled while the ownership of the MGM movie studio is sorted out. As such, there’s a theory that if the delay goes on for too long, that Daniel Craig would walk.
Thus, should that prove to be the case, that’s when talk of Sam Worthington would come into play. The speculation has been fuelled by bookmaker William Hill, which has made the Avatar, Terminator: Salvation and Clash Of The Titans star the 5/2 favourite for the role. Christian Bale is sat at 7/1.
Few seem to believe, however, that there’s much chance that Craig is going to walk, and it’s also quite likely that the muddle surrounding the future of MGM is going to be resolved in the next few weeks anyway.
There still seems little chance that we’ll be seeing James Bond back on the big screen again before 2012, though.
