While the director of the Bad Boys movies, Michael Bay, has spent the past few years devoted to giant robots and blowing shit up with the Transformers movies (a third one of which is out next summer), that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s resistant to going back one more to one of his earliest hits.
Bad Boys and its sequel united Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, and according to the latter, a third film is definitely on the cards. Lawrence told MTV that “It’s real realistic”.
Lawrence revealed that he’s had conversations with Michael Bay about the film, and that the director is keen to come back aboard, presumably once he’s done and dusted with Transformers 3. Furthermore, he’s chatted with Will Smith about the project too, and according to Lawrence, “we’re just waiting on [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer to let us know what it’s really real”.
The earliest we’d expect Bad Boys 3, if it does indeed go ahead, is the summer of 2013.
