Austin Powers 4 planned?

Outside of voicing a certain green ogre, Mike Myers’ film career has got to the point where he can’t buy a hit any more. Even his last film, Inglourious Basterds, saw him with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role stuck in the midst of the movie.

So is it any surprise, therefore, that a fourth Austin Powers movie may be in the offing? Jay Roach, who directed the first three films, has been talking to MTV, and revealed that Myers is working on ideas for an Austin Powers 4.

While not officially confirmed, a fourth film will take the spy off in a different direction, we’re told, and our guess is that the usual ensemble of characters will be along for the ride.

Keen as we are to see Dr Evil back on the big screen, and keen as we are to see whatever young female music star they want to dress in revealing outfits this time, the problem remains that Myers doesn’t seem to have written a funny joke in years.

Maybe Austin will turn that around…
